1. Decide that a subscription to the Times website is a ‘nice to have’ rather than an essential. Age of austerity and all that.
2. Look for My Account so I can see my details and stop my subscription.
3. Not there. Strange. Look for a link saying Unsubscribe, easily visible from every page.
4. Oh, not there either. Click on Help.
5. No mention of unsubscribing. Click on FAQs in the footer.
6. Nope. Click on Terms and Conditions.
7. Right at the bottom it says go to Contact Us. Click on Contact Us.
8. Go to email and send a message to help@timesplus.co.uk asking to unsubscribe.
9. Receive a message from a friendly human agreeing to do so. What could be simpler?
And I’ll throw in step 10 for free – sit back and wait for 50 people to reply to this post and say how obvious it is and how they did it straight away…

the best un-subscribe methods are oft buried beneath layers of FAQ’s & bureaucracy. Happy faces all round in in the customer Services Dept. I’m sure
It’s not obvious at all. Signed up for a month and couldn’t find unsubscribe either. I’ll take your advice and see what happens
Jack – glad it wasn’t just me!
Thanks! Been putting this off for months
ps not quite 50
Not good from the Times. If you make it hard to unsubscribe from a site that requires your credit card or direct debit details that is stepping over the line from ‘business’ into ‘sharp practice’ (IMHO)
Oh I am so glad it isn’t just me, I thought I was being dim. sent the email – lets see what happens. Not impressed
SO FLIPPING HELPFUL
thank you!
This is useful. News International Crime Inc
must be stopped.
Please unsubscribe me.
how can i unsubsribe from timesnews 58888
I attempted this about 3 days ago after I couldn’t find any other way, still haven’t heard anything back. I’ve cancelled the direct debit in-case they think they’re going to be intelligent and wait until the next payment comes out.
Hi Amanda. That’s the best way, then they’ll definitely come back to you! This post was written well over a year ago though so maybe they’ve got a different system now. Or they’ve had so many people contacting them they’re not answering emails on the subject anymore!
Same problem here – I am singularly unimpressed with any organization that makes it so easy to subscribe and hard to unsubscribe – I am glad I decided to unsubscribe, though that was because I tired of the right wing bias of their newspapers in the end
I emailed them with the subject ‘unsubscribe’ and got this information, (almost immediately I should add).

Thanks for helping me out with this! I’ll now never resubscribe as The Times have been underhand with unsubscribing…twits
I have never known an organisation make it so hard to unsubscribe from something, Jesus! And even when you do ring up all they do is try and sell you a subscription to the hard copy, it is just unbelievable
I need to know why i am being charged for a subscription I have not taken out. I need a repayment of the £26.00 taken from my account. I need to speak to someone
Hello, we’re not affiliated with The Times in any way at all, so you’ll really need to talk to them I’m afraid. Hope you get it sorted!
