Social media and small businesses - who's using what?

Interesting infographic from our friends at Sage showing how small businesses use social media. Facebook seems to be the most popular platform but does it bring results? Are you keeping it updated with informative, conversational posts? Are you including easy routes in the page to purchase, subscribe or download?

And if you're using it to raise brand awareness and increase sales, how are you measuring success? Including tracking code with links is a good tip, as is signing up to Social Mention to see when your brand is mentioned and running a continual search in your Twitter client for your company name and products.

Using Google Analytics is an easy - and free - way of finding out where your traffic's coming from. Hopefully a lot of it from social media after all the effort you're putting in!
