The team were enthusiastic about social media but unsure about how to position themselves – which channels to use and what content to put on them?
We kicked things off with a training session on writing for social media, sharing tips and tricks to encourage engagement and build a larger follower base.
We also spoke about strategy and what would work for Raffingers Stuart, plus how they could work their social media updates around their existing website and marketing activity.
The follow-up session was even more valuable – if session one was all about getting fired up about all the possibilities of social media, session two was about overcoming the challenges that had arisen while putting ideas into practice. We then honed the strategy and techniques over a series of on-site sessions.
A LinkedIn company page where they can start discussions with fellow professionals and small business owners, and update followers with the latest news from the company.
A Facebook page where Raffingers Stuart show the human side to the company – their charity and sporting events and behind-the-scenes images of Essex's most friendly accountants!
Twitter is for sharing more newsy and topical content. Live tweeting the Budget and offering advice for small businesses. Engaging with SMEs in the area. The tweets are brilliantly written, in a conversational and engaging tone.
They also have a Google+ page to help with SEO, and we worked on their Google business listing to ensure that the pictures were professional and essential information such as opening hours, phone number and address were clearly shown (see right).
Along the way we made other suggestions, for example updating the email signature to make it less wordy and to include links to all the social media feeds. We also tweaked the copy in a few places around the site to make sure the wording matched what users would be searching for.
