Sookio Founder joins advisory Board for the ARU Cambridge School of Creative Industries

We’re delighted to announce that our Founder, Sue Keogh, is joining the inaugural Advisory Board for the Cambridge School of Creative Industries at Anglia Ruskin University.

Part of the Faculty of Arts, Education, Humanities and Social Sciences, the Cambridge School of Creative Industries is ARU’s innovative, experimental and collaborative home to courses such as Film and Television Production, Music, Computer Games Design and Creative Writing.

The new advisory board is made up of leading figures across the arts and creative sectors, and will help steer the School’s strategic direction, contribute to research, and build stronger links with local and national partners, ensuring ARU students are fully prepared for creative careers.

Led by Dr Idrees Rasouli, Associate Professor of Design and Urban Innovation, the initiative builds on ARU’s proud heritage in the arts and continues the commitment to connecting education, industry and community.

These advisory boards help to strengthen the arts and culture ecosystem across our region. By connecting education, industry and communities, we can help ensure that creativity continues to thrive, not only enriching cultural life but also benefiting economic growth and social wellbeing.

“Together, we’re building a stronger presence for creativity and for the talented people who make it happen.
— Dr Rasouli, Associate Professor of Design and Urban Innovation
The ongoing advice of so many of the region’s industry leaders and experts is invaluable.

We are dedicated to ensuring our courses not only inspire our students to reach their creative potential, but also ensure what they are learning is exactly what their respective industries require when they graduate. These advisory boards help us do just that.
— Professor Catherine Lee, Pro Vice Chancellor and Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Humanities, Education and Social Sciences at ARU

An ARU alumna herself, graduating with a degree in Communication Studies with Spanish, Sue Keogh has built up nearly 3 decades of experience in entrepreneurship, marketing and brand storytelling.

Following a decade producing radio and digital content for broadcast media giants (BBC, ITV, Bauer) and at large internet portals (Yahoo, AOL, GOV.UK), in 2008 she founded award-winning Cambridge communications consultancy Sookio, leading on strategy, content and campaigns for clients including the University of Cambridge, the NHS, and local government. She is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing and of the RSA, advisor for Enterprise Nation and a Board member on two tech startups.

Deeply immersed in the Cambridge innovation ecosystem and business networks across the region, Sue helped launch CamCreatives meetup group and founded Creative Ely. She has shown a deep commitment to creating opportunities for the next generation of talented creatives, returning to ARU on multiple occasions to mentor and advise (see below, from the live brief set by Sookio for students in BA Illustration and Animation), and employed graduates too.

She’s also launched a series of work experience initiatives that have given 150+ young people a leg up into careers in marketing and communications. See our Impact page for more.

I’ve watched on with pride over the years as ARU has flourished.

It’s an honour to join the Board of the Cambridge School of Creative Industries and use my industry knowledge, marketing expertise and extensive business networks to support new talent coming through and helping the School achieve its vision, mission, and strategic goals.
— Sue Keogh
