Bootcamp's back for 2023! Join us for a week of remote work experience

Sookio Bootcamp is back for the fourth year running! Join our week of virtual work experience and learn valuable skills that will help you build a rewarding career in marketing.

What’s Agency Bootcamp?

Our first Bootcamp took place during a lockdown period in 2020, born out of a commitment to help the next generation coming into the industry at a time when work experience placements were being shelved left, right and centre.

The obstacle of having to run a virtual event quickly became an opportunity!

We realised that unlike traditional work experience – where we could just have one or two people in the office at a time – we could run it over Zoom and have 20+ attendees.

It was so successful that we’ve kept the format, and we’re delighted to say that Agency Bootcamp alumni have gone on to secure exciting jobs in the industry as a result.

This year, Bootcamp’s back for another action-packed week of marketing work experience, giving aspiring entrants to the industry a unique insight into the world of digital marketing.

When is Sookio Bootcamp taking place?

Monday 14 August to Friday 18 August, daily from 9am to 5pm (British time)

Sessions will all take place over Zoom - but with plenty of breaks and creative challenges in between.

Who can take part?

To join Agency Bootcamp you must be:

  • Interested in a career in marketing, digital or creative. You may be graduate level, looking to switch careers, or taking a different route into the industry and looking for brilliant experience to help you get there

  • Available for the full week of 14 to 18 August

Who isn’t eligible?

  • Please note we already partner with schools and as such don’t accept anyone below 18 on this particular initiative. Sorry!

What’s the format?

We’re sticking to roughly the same format as the last three years, including:

  • Daily spotlights on team members, helping you discover more about the different roles that make up a marketing agency

  • Daily creative challenges in key areas such as copywriting, video, strategy and sales

  • Careers Q&A to help you plan your own route into marketing

How will you benefit from Bootcamp?

  • Look behind the scenes at a marketing agency. Learn more about the different roles, the jargon, and the day-to-day…

  • Meet team members at different stages in our careers and discover the skills you need and the different routes we’ve all taken to get into the industry

  • Spark your imagination with creative challenges that will give you something tangible for your portfolio

  • Add some brilliant work experience to your CV, increasing employability afterwards

Final deadline for applications: midday on 14 July 2023. We appreciate receiving early applications as this helps with the shortlisting process!

If we get lots of applications, we will prioritise those who we feel will get the most benefit, as well as those living in Cambridgeshire, so that we are creating opportunities for people in our local area.

Good luck.

What people say about Bootcamp

“I really enjoyed the spotlight sessions on different members of the team- getting to know them and what a typical day looks like was really helpful. There was a nice mix of more general skills information, as well as a relaxed approach to what kind of roles they fulfil day to day. It was especially interesting to listen to people like Imogen and Sasha who are just starting out to see how they got into their role and what more junior positions might look like.”

- Bootcamp Class of 2021

“I enjoyed all the sessions and exercises but if I have to highlight one it will be the Copywriter day and the employability day. All the advisors have been very helpful. I consider it was amazing because we were learning on Zoom and then we practiced with the activities. It has been a complete experience. This placement gave me the chance to start in the professional world. I consider my resume is more attractive for employers thanks to this experience. Thank you.”

- Bootcamp Class of 2021

“Really enjoyed the mix of Zoom calls and tasks to do in the meantime. I thought the tasks were well thought out and struck a nice balance between challenging and doable. Careers advice on the Friday I found the most valuable, loads of great tips I haven't heard before which I’ll definitely use!”
