Whether you’re shooting head shots or hair products, you’ll learn how to stage the perfect shot and will receive expert guidance when it comes to editing them.
And all this just using the Android or iPhone in your pocket.
Meet the trainer
Ian Olsson is an outstanding Cambridge photographer with a knack for explaining essential techniques in smartphone photography - plainly and simply.
A Licentiate of the British Institute of Professional Photographers (BIPP), he works with the Cambridge Indie and other organisations to create beautiful photography for websites and print.
He can show you how to get the very best out of your phone to create attention-grabbing images that really showcase your business, your products, and your people.
A particular highlight was our workshop for The Body Shop at Home annual conference, held online for 10,000 attendees all eager to pick up tips to help them promote their products more successfully.
What does our smartphone photography course cover?
Getting to grips with your phone. You’ll spend a short time learning about your equipment, its camera features and different lenses
The subject. What are you taking a photo of, and why? Is it interesting to whoever is going to see it? What’s the story behind the picture?
Exposure. If there’s no light, there’s no photo! You’ll learn how to find the light that’s right for your subject, and discover how to take control of the situation in order to get the exposure you want!
Composition. Lots of practical guidance and tips to help you make your photos really stand out, and how to make the best use of format/orientation for different social media channels.
Get creative by using all the different features of your camera. You’ll learn techniques to add movement to your images, as well as additional techniques to get the most from your phone camera
In-built phone app and tools. Learn how to use your phone’s inbuilt technology to crop your images, and adjust contrast, colour, and exposure
Advanced editing. Discover Snapseed! You’ll have the chance to get creative with your own style on this powerful editing app.
You’ll learn how to remove unwanted objects, straighten wonky buildings, and add text and graphics to your images
How much does smartphone photography training cost?
We have a simple approach to pricing with all our courses:
Half-day workshop: £1575 for up to five people plus £150 per person on top
Full-day workshop: £1875 for up to five people plus £180 per person on top
Bespoke guidance from the session: £375
ANY EXTRAS?
Plus VAT at standard rates and any reasonable costs for travel.
Due to the prep time that goes into our social media courses, the costs are the same for in-person and online delivery.
